The Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley presents
The Ohio Valley Upcycled Fashion Show
August 5th, 2017
This show is a chance to strut your stuff and display your creativity using non-traditional materials.
What does it mean to upcycle?
- reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of a higher quality or value than the original. "The opportunity to upcycle trash, or turn it into new products, was vast"
Upcycling speaks to resourcefulness and sustainability. This experience will allow kids to think creatively, innovate, and problem solve - to look at how a material was once used, and make it into a work of art!
Ensembles will be judged by a panel of independent judges who are experienced in the areas of arts, repurposing, and/or design. Designers will be scored on use of materials, creativity, design, and structure.
We will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for designers in two age groups: 10-14, and 15-18.
Designers in the 9 and younger category will get a chance to walk the runway in their designs as well!
