The Children's Museum
of the Ohio Valley strives to activate the intellectual and creative
potential of children of the Ohio Valley by being a catalyst
for the
process of learning through hands-on play. In order to more fully
serve our community, the museum has created Project Play to
allow those who might lack the resources to take advantage of all
the museum has to offer. Project Play operates through
community donations to financially underwrite educational
programming, classroom field trips and family memberships for those
who might not otherwise be able to visit the museum.
Project Play allows the Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley
to offer
- "Free days" - the first of which was underwritten by The Linsly
School and drew over 150 visitors to the museum in one day.
- Free membership to low-income and foster families as designated by
area schools and social organizations.
- Open House events for area organizations such as the YWCA,
Laughlin Chapel and others.
- Reduced or free admission for school groups and their chaperones.
- Intern positions for area high school and college students.
Contributions to Project Play can be earmarked for a
particular facet of the program or for a particular school or
community group. The Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley is a 501
c(3) so all contributions to Project Play are tax deductible.
Please call the museum for more information (304) 214-5437.
